Animal Handling is a skill used in calming aggressive animals or drawing out the cautious ones. It is also used when teaching animals new tricks or commanding them to perform a simple task.
A successful check allows a character to charm or dominate certain creatures. The handler cannot take 20 on this check.
Check: Animals, dire animals and vermin have a DC of 15 + the creature's hit die. For beasts and magical beasts, the DC is 19 + the creature's hit die. If the check succeeds, the creature is dominated.
Special: If the character fails their check by five or more, the creature will go hostile.
Characters can only activate one Special Ability per round. This includes Demoralize, Feint and Tumble checks, as well as Animal Empathy, Called Shot, Circle Kick, Disarm, Knockdown, Pick Pocket, Reckless Blow, and Shield Bash abilities.
Use: Select this skill and then select the target creature. Dominated creatures are commanded as if they were henchmen. The creature will remain dominated for one turn per level of the character using the skill.
