The Appraise skill is used to determine the true value of an item such as an uncut gem or a sackful of rusted iron blades. Knowing the value of an item provides an advantage during haggling.
The higher the character's skill the better the price received when selling goods. The purchase price of goods is largely controlled by the buyer's wealth and reputation. Appraise affects this only in a minor way.
Check: The character makes an opposed roll against the merchant's Appraise skill. The difference affects the price paid for goods sold to the merchant. The first time the player interacts with a merchant dictates the prices in that store until their Appraise skill improves. Use: Automatic in stores.
