The Easting Reach Wiki

Armour is the main item that a character wears, in the armor slot, that covers the body and protects the character. There are four categories of armours with proficiency feats required for an armor item that isn't considered clothing. Each category has varying base AC, max DEX AC, weight, arcane spell failure, and armor check penalty.

Arcane — but not divine — spellcasters receive a chance of spell failure when wearing armour or wielding a shield that has a (percent) value for arcane spell failure. These percentages are combined to obtain the chance of arcane spell failure which is then added to the chance of failure from being taunted (if applicable) to obtain the total chance of spell failure. This arcane spell failure can be reduced by a property on the worn armour or shield, and it only applies to arcane spells with somatic components. In particular, spells casted using the metamagic, Still Spell, are not subject to arcane spell failure.

An armour check penalty applies to most dexterity-based skills when a character wears armour heavier than leather. If a character is wearing armour and using a shield, both armour check penalties apply.

AC = 10 + armor bonus + shield bonus + dodge bonus + natural bonus + deflection bonus + other AC
