Specialty Units[]

Royal Constables: Their job is to investigate, collect evidence, and make arrests.

  • One in each city and more who travel with a Squad to remote areas.
  • Judgement usually falls to others except in extreme situations.
  • Roughly equal to Alorn rank, they work closely with the Alorn's overseeing City Watch.

Swordpoint: Mercenary unit hired for a specific role. Leader is designated a Bluesword.

  • Alorn rank and higher may command a Swordpoint.
  • Typically to reduce friction an Alorn is designated as Bluesword to oversee the mercenaries.

Varspare: There is a Warspear designated the "Varspare" consisting entirely of foreigners serving community service.

  • This unit is an active duty station only, with dangerous tasks and high casualty rate.
  • Typically sent to hunt down bandits, monsters, and on other dangerous missions.

Warprows: Specially trained naval warriors

  • Typically Impilturian ships enlist Warwands who specialize in wind magic and need no standard navy.

Shieldstave: Warwands who command field units of Warswords.

  • Warwands have authority in matters arcane but otherwise take orders from unit commanders.

Warmace: priests of the Triad in service as healer or fighting unholy forces.

  • Warmaces have no authority, rank, or command.
  • A Shieldlord may request their presence from the Temple as a favour.

Knights of Imphras II: Royal Guard (Around 700 total in Impiltur circa 1372 DR)

  • Officially known as 'Most Holy Order of the Sacred Shrike', led by three War Captains:
  • Kyrlraun of Ilmater in Lyrabar, Simgar of Tyr in Hlammach, and Haelimbrar of Torm in Laviguer.
  • There is much friction between Warswords and Knights. (due to knights elitism and hunger for glory)

History[]

In 1100 DR, the Warsword of Impiltur is formally established as the Kingdom’s standing army.
